Accounting & Budgeting

Our dedicated Yacht Management accounting specialists will provide a bespoke service to ensure achievable annual budgets are set and met – often saving money as our proactive approach helps prevent any unexpected expenditure.

Ensure complete clarity and transparency over finances

We pride ourselves on providing Owners with a true understanding of the costs of running their yachts. Each yacht is given a designated bank account, in a currency of your choice, and annual budget reports are prepared in agreement with the Owner, detailing day-to-day running costs and expected expenditure and income from chartering.

Manage salaries, taxes and pensions

We manage the payment of crew salaries, executed in adherence to various national regulations.

Ensure value for money for the Owner

Our team will review all invoices from suppliers and service providers to ensure accuracy and value. We will pay invoices verified and approved by Owner, Captain or Manager and audit and verify the cash on board each month, and that available to the Captain for expenses.

Crew Management & Administration

The cost of captain and crew forms the largest part running expenses on most yachts, so selecting and managing an excellent crew is essential.

We are an approved Marine Labour supplier, audited by Lloyds Register, and offer crew employment and payroll through our offshore company WYM Crew Services Ltd (Channel Islands).

Recruit and manage an excellent crew for Captain and Owner

Our team are experienced in working alongside recruitment agencies in accordance with Owners’ preferences, ensuring crew members are experienced, correctly qualified and suitable for the role (including medical examinations and background checks where required).

We can monitor and supervise Captains and their crew, and support Captains in handling matters including defining and assigning duties, supervising and discipline.

Ensure international regulations are met at all times

We provide flag state approved MLC Seafarers agreements (SEA) and ensure no crew members board yachts without the prior consent of the Owner. We keep crew records and monitor certificates, making sure all crew comply with regulations.

Manage crew leave, insurances and offer emergency support

We organise holiday leave for crew members, arranging the best possible flights to get them from and back to the yacht. Our team can be called upon to provide back-up for the Captain in emergency medical situations and can arrange health insurance and crew visa and immigration applications, as well as arranging accommodation, clothing, food and medical treatments if needed.

Safety & Security

Wilson Yacht Management provides ISM & ISPS services as a bespoke standalone service or as part of our full management package.

From PYC (Passenger Yacht Code) Superyachts to Yachts under 50 meters, our systems are flag state approved and we ensure yachts remain compliant with new safety and security legislation at all times.

Provide vessels with a Flag State approved Safety Management System (SMS)

Polices including Health and Safety and Environment, Drugs and Alcohol will be provided as will Safety Management manuals, procedures and forms. A Dedicated Person Ashore (DPA) will be appointed to oversee the SMS and conduct annual on-board audits to ensure compliance and provide support to captain and crew to resolve issues around accidents and incidents. This person will also act as Company Security Office (CSO).

Ensure security regulations are met and provide worldwide security updates

Our team will visit all new yachts we support and conduct a Ship Security Assessment and write a new Security manual which will be approved by the Flag State and audited each year. We provide worldwide security updates to all managed yachts.

Provide Crisis Support

It is a requirement to have documented procedures and checklists in place for emergency situations. We produce an Emergency Procedures booklet to be kept on the Bridge and also provide contact numbers for the DPA and the Managing Direoctor, who can be contacted 24/7. We hold details of all crew on ships and next of kin details and will act as a focal point for all enquires and in the event of a reportable incident report it to the Flag State, inform insurers and handle any media enquiries.

Logistics & Operations

Our team at Wilson Yacht Management will make arrangements to support the world-wide operation of your yacht, taking care of everything from berth arrangements to communication systems.

Make travelling to new locations plain sailing

Our team will assist your Captain to arrange berths and for bunkering and ships agents when required.

Ensure effective communications at all times.

For many Owners keeping in contact with their businesses is key, and this is something we can ensure is all in hand by organising yacht communication packages including V-Sat, Sat-C, Mobile and 4G services. We’ll also assist in setting up satellite TV services worldwide.

Manage maintenance and repairs to ensure minimum disruption

Many yachts are in use both summer and winter so with refit and maintenance times in short supply we’ll make sure all is in hand by sourcing quotes and arranging for the purchase and supply of spare parts and by liaising with service personnel.

Technical Support

Our team have years of experience in assisting Captains and their crew to keep their vessel in an excellent condition – meeting standards required by insurers, laws and regulations.

Ensure your yacht stays shipshape at all times when in use

Maintaining your yacht when in use is essential and our team can advise and support with technical and condition surveys, maintenance procedures and other technical work on board, as well as assisting the captain to devise maintenance programs and when reviewing reports.

Help reduce running costs

Knowing how all aspects of your yacht are performing helps avoid unforeseen – and significant – repair bills. Our team has the experience of ensuring systems are in place to monitor all machinery, stocks and spares, ensuring damages and defects are immediately reported whilst a constantly updated inventory ensures timely delivery of required parts at realistic prices.

Arrange and oversee maintenance and refit work

Shipyard work is often essential and obtaining and appraising quotes is part and parcel of the work we do, ensuring it is schedule for suitable time of the year. We can also visit your yacht at the shipyard at the beginning, during and completion of works during a maintenance project or refit period to monitor the works and costs, or oversee it day to day if so desired.

Refit & New Build Project Management

At Wilson Yacht Management we have experience of project managing new build and refits of yachts from 60ft to more than 350ft. With offices in Europe and USA our staff are always on hand and can work on a permanent or consultancy basis.

Advise on potential shipyards

Our team will find the most suitable shipyards in the world to carry out work on your yacht – and that means selecting which should tender for the work, conducting appraisals of bids and finding a cost-effective solution.

Plan, negotiate contracts and schedules

Any major project, be it a new build or a refit, needs careful planning to ensure it is completed on time and within budget. We have good relationships with all major repair yards and can help with setting the specification for your project and negotiating contracts and schedules with shipyards.

Supervise and control works

We will visit your vessel as often as you desire – providing a true independent eye on the work being carried out, looking out for the best interests of the Owner at all times and ensuring good value for money and the highest standard or work.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes of yachts do you manage for owners?

Wilson Yacht Management company is proud to manage a wide range of yachts, superyachts, passenger coded yachts, mega coded yachts and commercial vessels.

Our current fleet is comprised of several commercial superyachts of over 100 metres in length (330feet), 7000 GRT passenger ships and privately-registered yachts operating under the Large Yacht and Passenger Yacht Codes. We can also manage smaller vessels, from 30 metres in length (90 feet).

Do you help yachts and Captains sailing in potentially dangerous areas of the world?

Yes. All the yachts we manage are tracked and have alarms on board which are regularly tested in our control room. When cruising in remote locations or transiting high risk areas such as the Indian Ocean or the Red Sea, security is obviously a high priority. Many of the yachts we manage have made safe transits around the Horn of Africa and all have a small armed security team on board. We also register the passage with the Marine Security Centre Horn of Africa to ensure naval support should it be required.

Where are the majority of the yachts you manage?

The core cruising areas is still the Mediterranean in the summer and Caribbean in the winter, but an increasing number of yachts we manage are now venturing further afield. We have well-established contacts with most Flag States which hold the jurisdiction over oceangoing vessels and hold a Yacht and Passenger Ship Document of Compliance (DOC). We were the first yacht management company to obtain a passenger ship DOC with the Cayman Islands.

What happens should a yacht need emergency support?

Should a yacht have an emergency such as fire, flood, a collision or a medical situation we provide a 24/7 support service. Crews are given contact numbers for a Dedicated Person Ashore (DPA) who will consult with the Captain and decide whether to man the office with a crisis support team. We will also ensure the Flag State is informed, as well as crew members’ next of kin.

Wilson Yacht Management can support vessels anywhere in the world and our team have been involved in a wide variety of yacht cruising schedules and itineraries worldwide, as well as the usual cruising grounds of the Mediterranean, Caribbean and USA.

Yachts we manage can regularly be found in the Far East, Australia, the North and South Pacific, Alaska, India, Middle East, the Indian Ocean, Alaska, North and South America and across Europe.
